Nancy Kress
Amerikansk forfatterinde som fik trykt sin første novelle I 1976. Hendes første tre romaner var fantasy, men efter at hun havde skrevet dem har hun mest holdt sig til SF. I 1991 skrev hun novellen "Beggars in Spain". Historien vandt både Hugo og Nebula prisen det år. Og senere udvidede Kress novellen til en roman. Bogen handler om en gruppe mennesker som ikke længere har brug for at sove og som derfor kan få meget mere ud af deres liv, på mere end én måde. Der endte med at blive en trilogi ud af bogen for siden kom "Beggars and Choosers" og "Beggars Ride".
