George Orwell 2-Book Boxed Set: 1984 and Animal Farm (Orwell, George)

Orwell’s timeless classics, now in a two-book mass market boxed set 1984: Written more than seventy-five years ago, 1984 was George Orwell’s chilling prophecy about the future. And while the year 1984 has come and gone, his dystopian vision of a government that will do anything to control the narrative is timelier than ever. ANIMAL FARM: Set on a farm full of overworked and mistreated animals, George Orwell’s razor-edged allegory offers a scathing satire on a downtrodden society’s blind march from revolution against tyranny toward a totalitarianism just as terrible. Today it is devastatingly clear that wherever and whenever freedom is attacked, under whatever banner, the cutting clarity and savage comedy of George Orwell’s masterpiece classics have a meaning and message still ferociously fresh.

George Orwell
George Orwell is a pseudonym for Eric Arthur Blair (25. juni 1903 – 21. januar 1950). He was an English novelist and journalist. His work is marked by keen intelligence and wit, a profound awareness of social injustice, an intense, revolutionary opposition to totalitarianism, a passion for clarity in language and a belief in democratic socialism. Considered perhaps the 20th century's best chronicler of English culture, he wrote literary criticism and poetry, as well as fiction and polemical journalism. He is best known for the dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four (1949) and the satirical novella Animal Farm (1945). His Homage to Catalonia (1938), an account of his experiences as a volunteer on the Republican side in the Spanish Civil War, and his numerous essays are widely acclaimed. Orwell's influence on culture, popular and political, continues. Several of his neologisms, along with the term Orwellian, have entered the language.
