Bill Watterson
William B. "Bill" Watterson II er født i Washington D.C. den 5. juli 1958. Som 6-årig flyttede familien til Ohio, hvor han også bor den dag i dag. Watterson har altid været vild med tegneserier og har tegnet hele sit liv. Han er uddannet på Ohio's Kenyon College i 1980 med afgangseksamen i politisk kundskab. Igennem collegeårene tegnede han striber til den lokale skoleavis, "The Kenyon Collegian".
Bill Wattersons inspirationskilder tæller Walt Kellys Pogo, Charles Schulz' Radiserne og George Herrimans Krazy Kat, og han har udtalt stor beundring for disse tre serier, der i hans øjne både underholder samtidig med at de beskæftiger sig med vigtige problematikker. Disse serier var med til at åbne hans øjne for mulighederne i tegneseriemediet.
